A waste of time - TDU2

Fun? More like a chore.

A small disclaimer here: I do not say that the following game is terrible, however it is packed with time consuming tasks and "fake" difficulty, therefore playing the game is quite a chore.

Hard, easy, casual?

Here's the golden answer: neither. Games should not rely on being one thing out of many (looking at you, Dark Souls), but preferably should include a good gameplay loop that can be both relaxing and fun. For instance, take Dark Souls. Buggy, ugly and I might even say dull and unresponsive game. Why is it popular? Because it's "hard".

Well if you don't have a problem spamming 1 dodge and 1 attack button all the time (and at the same time you find that rewarding somehow) then congratulations, this game is most certainly for you. I like games that present me with different challenges through the plot or gameplay itself. It does not have to be easy, but the need of a new approach to different problem is what always drags me into games. This is why some shooters are popular. Yes, you have same weapons that work best for you etc. but you can change your tactics. If you do not do that then most likely you've played too much of Call of Duty.

No more digressions

Test Drive 2: Unlimited is the name of the game. I used to enjoy it. Now I despise it. Why you may ask?

This game is filled with stupid things like obtaining a racing license. Just because. Oh yes you can drive this classical car but this one has a little tiny bit more horsepower and overall is better so you need to pass another test. Why for the f****g sake?!

This is not enough. This game is super easy, especially when you turn off all the assists. However it dumps on you these time challenges that at times are extremely ridiculous! There's nothing more frustrating than these time challenges. I can win any race with many seconds of lead, but these are always a chore to finish.

Plus, getting money is a very time consuming task. 30-40 minutes of racing to get enough money to buy one car? Sure! No thank you, I rather do something else and a little more productive than drive around one or two circles being 15+ seconds ahead of bots.

I do understand this isn't stricte racing game. It is about driving around having fun and admiring the landscape.  I don't find it that intimidating to do so, especially when it beeps every 5 miles because of some crashed car or "you have to take a picture" "quest". It used to be good up to the point where everything seemed to be a chore.

I don't like my games to be a chore. I like to have fun and do some progress. TDU2 is full of chores.
